 Final Reflections
Najjar, (1996) conclusions stated that multi-media information helps people learn sometimes.   In my opinion,  multi-media always have an impact on students’ retention, comprehension and learning. It helps students’ understand by making information realistic and hence, helps learning easy to the part of the students and teachers as well.   In Naijar’s studies, the controlled group which is showing that they have used multi-media always had the edge of learning compared to the ones who experienced traditional classroom set-up.  My course project has multi-media on it.  I didn’t only use mono media but i used multi-media as well.  Technology use allows many more students to be actively thinking about information, making choices, and executing skills than is typical in teacher-led lessons. Moreover, when technology is used as a tool to support students in performing authentic tasks, the students are in the position of defining their goals, making design decisions, and evaluating their progress.
When I was in my elementary years, I remember that we only use mono media- just pure print.  I can’t recall them showing videos or multi-media at all.  We always listen, or use the print material. If we didn’t copy the lecture, we are answering a book, or answering a worksheet.   The subjects that I do not like are Math and Science because most of the time I don’t understand and I can’t picture or imagine what they were talking about.  And because I’m a visual learner, I need pictures in order to understand. There is no question about it, multi-media helps a student learn if used and addressed correctly. Now I am an educator, I make sure that after we learn a new concept, I always make sure I show videos related to the topic we have.  If I can’t find any related video then, I will make my own video about the topic.
I agree in allocating media for presenting information. The more media an educator used in a right way on a right time makes a student learn better.  The teacher must also make sure to use different forms of media to comply and address to all students' needs. Different forms of media reaches different types of learners.  In the teacher's objectives, the teacher must also deal with the different types of learners and have objectives that is also addressed to their needs. In my curriculum project, I made sure that all learners are properly addressed and there are activities to all  visual, auditory and kinesthetic types learners.
A. Posters - posters helped me to explain a term/topic to my class.  It gives a visual and written impact to the term used.
B. Edited Images - there are images that are not appropriate to the lesson/ topic I am into.  Edited images will be helpful to help me focus on the theme/ topic I am discussing.
C. Audio Programs - students will be eager to listen if they will hear me on the movies I made. Then I will assure them that i will let them record their voices, too.  After a group work, they will read their findings and record their voice then the whole class will be listening to their report.
D.  Animation - students would love to see moving objects, so I have used it on my project.
E. JING -  I had made a presentation through this software and I would love it to use it in my own classroom in the future.
 G. Photostory or Movies - videos help the students relate to the things they see, hear and read.  Videos are very powerful tool the students can learn.
1. Civic Engagement- with this lesson, I will let the students make a reflection of how grateful they are with the technology we have and what is their responsibility with these technologies particularly the internet.  Media education will also be integrated in this lesson.
2. Motivation - i made a slide making them think that what if we still have the old television, computers, cellphone, etc?  It is a jumpstart to my lesson that space exploration had really change our lives.
3. Integration - address the family the t.v programs they watch at home, and what websites the students are visiting, and using what they have learned in their everyday life after the lesson.
A. Audience as self- learner- the lesson can be used to all grade levels, they will appreciate how far our generation is at in terms of technology and at the same time use the technology we have around responsibly and not taking them for granted.  The topic i chose does not only pertain to Science but also Media Education / Literacy (knowing the different technology and how to be responsible with the use of different media)  , Values Education ( distinguish what is right from wrong)  and English for writing and grammar use.

GAMING IN EDUCATION

Gaming in Education is relevant to the teaching and learning of our 21st Century students.  A virtual game is a way to motivate and teach the digital learners we have.  They revolve around a digital world so it is really important for them to learn from it.  As an educator, it is my responsiblity to remind them about the values they need to know for the game and I always make sure to integrate media literacy everytime I use it.  I use games most of the time to assess the lesson we had for the day.  I use the Jefferson County Schools website to create a Jeopardy game.  I have used different games in my classroom.  I even have and used the Family Feud DVD game with my students.  They had fun  and at the same time learn from it.  Games stimulate the mind even under pressure.  It is a very powerful tool in teaching our digital learners.

> I was amaze with the video restaurant project and cant wait to introduce it in my classroom.  My students are using power point and they love to use it.  They will be more enthusiastic and eager if they will learn about prezi. I need to learn it myself, though.  Using technology in the classroom really makes a difference in the learners' attitude. I have this personal experience.  They were making foldables about the Moon, when I told them that after they finish making their Moon book, they can continue working with their power point. They were just so excited to finish their book.  They just love technology.  It really proves that the students we have in our classrooms now are the technology learners that are more eager to learn if we incorporate technology in our classrooms.

> I watched the Video Bro Code and I agree with what is in it. Media needs to be responsible for everything they impose to the mind of the youth. Selfish people that makes money because of immorality should stop and be more responsible.  I dont even watch music videos most of the time because values that the youth needs to know is not there. I would love to share the video to high school junior and senior boys  so they will love and respect the women and not just look at them as sex objects.  I hope that the school, the church and even the home should give each child media education, that not all that the media is  presenting should be followed.
> This is a video that i can show to the 6th grade and would recommend to show to our media center- Killing Us Softly 4 Advertising Image of Women.  Sixth graders love to see their faces in the mirror, and that is based with the experience I have with them this year.  My classroom is beside the 6th grade bathroom that has a mirror on it. Girls would love to spend minutes just looking at their faces in between their classes.  I love to see myself in the mirror  when i was young, so I think its a  girl's thing and its normal.  One  major problem that girls usually have is how to look good so they will be accepted by others. With media taking charge and adding pressure to it, girls thought that all women that appears on t.v and magazine are all perfect. They will not believe for a fact that women in magazines looked so perfect because of photoshop unless no one will try to educate them with these things. Media Literacy Education is important.  As teachers, we need  to convey to our students that not all that media  is showing us is good, we need to use our own judgment.  After all, no one will educate them about Media Education if the teacher in the classroom will not.

> I always believe that Media Literacy should be integrated in the curriculum, in that study, the students who criticize and dig deeper than watching a video learned so much better retaining the higher levels of information including recall and comprehension of ideas.  There are three states, including North Carolina who has faith in this concept, and I hope they will finally start it in our county.

> I love that video. I am a social media addict.  From the moment I wake up, and before i sleep at night after my prayers, i am checking my face book. I have an account where I only have my family, friends, neighbors, classmates back home, where I speak in my language and share my journey in the United States to the Philippines and to my family and friends all over the world. I might create another account for my colleagues and friends in the United States where i will post everything in English in the future. I believe that as a teacher, we should separate our private life to our school life. I also believe that if a teacher wants to friends in fb with his students,  that teacher should create another account just for that class.  As an educator we are public figures so we need to be very careful with everything we show in our students about our private life.

> I am so lucky because when i was in my teenage years, social media is not even existing yet, not that i know of.  At least, i have enjoyed simple joys of life aside from being infront of the computer.  I will surely be in the percentage of teens that in social media just for the sake of socializing and not school work. Last two months, i have seen a video in fb, a real story in the Philippines about two high school boys who fell in love.  Their love story is known by all and they were madly in love at one point. Then, one day one of the boys is having a count down about something. He went to a mall wearing a shirt he made that night and still counting hours for no apparent reason.  When he was in the mall, he saw his boyfriend and shoot him then shoot himself.  They had a misunderstanding and his boyfriend fall out of love for him.  The other boy got so hurt and cant accept it and did something just like that. Everything posted, everything shared, even in his last hour of his life.  Is situation like this the price we need to pay for the technology we have?

Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology plays a vital role in in helping the students learn in the classroom. It aids students' different needs through its use. The different things like calculators for example help a student come up with an accurate answer to a mathematical question. Another example are the clickers, they even respond to all types of learners - students can view and answer right away a question that was given and at the same time gives immediate data to the teacher.
In my opinion, assistive technology is indeed very helpful to the students and even to the teachers as well.
Here is the link to my reflection for Assistive Technology.
